The FREND Group's Mission & Why We Do What We Do

The FREND Group is a national leader in stress management and stress-related issues such as excess weight reduction and smoking cessation.

Our primary mission is to improve the quality of life for people in need through coaching, education, motivation and treatment utilizing advanced clinical modalities in behavior modification.

Since 1994, FREND has conducted thousands of free training/clinics for city, county and state government agencies, major corporations, firefighters, law enforcement, the health community, professional associations and Native Americans.

FREND pays all professional fees for the clinician, his/her assistant to conduct the training/clinic and ancillary costs.

To more effectively utilize our limited funds, an organization has the option to help our humanitarian cause by providing a meeting room and/or travel. If they are not able to, we will cover those costs as well.

FREND's Mission

Our mission: To help people in need reduce chronic stress and stress-related issues like tobacco addiction and obesity utilizing the latest research in behavior modification and in the process help organizations reduce skyrocketing health care costs.

Why we do wha we do: Frank Ricci, National Director and Co-Founder of The FREND Group, contracted Cancer from second-hand smoke and has dedicated his life to helping others avoid chronic stress and stress-related issues such as smoking and its unintended consequences.

Frank believes: "Ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary thing when given a chance by knowledgeable people who care!"

Result: The FREND Group is one of the only and most respected charitable clinic of its kind in the US.

Stress, Tension Anxiety & Pain Relief

Stress is classified as a disorder. It is not a disease. It is, however, a disorder which causes disease because of the affect it has on the human immune system and other functions of the body.

Health care providers agree that chronic stress and tension is directly or indirectly the cause of most doctor's visits. The primary cause is anxiety (a state of anxiousness or great concern whether real or imagined). By modifying ones belief system, anxiousness can be eliminated along with the accompanying addictions.

We Are Whatever We Believe We Are

For every mental action, there is a physical reaction, no matter how small. If you experience mental stress, it will always manifest itself physically. Some people get tight muscles, headaches, sweat, behave differently than they normally do, and can even become violent.

Chronic Stress - Precursor to Disease

Chronic stress has a negative affect on cells in the body. It inhibits the proper functioning of cells resulting in the potential onset of cancer, hypertension, vascular, heart and other life threatening diseases.

A study conducted by the Mayo Clinic regarding stressful events linked to cancer revealed that over 70% of their adult cancer patients experienced an extremely stressful situation in their life approximately 18 months prior to being diagnosed with cancer. Several other studies have linked stress to being a possible contributor to causing cancer.

It is known by cardiologists that stress causes hypertension which can lead to stroke and heart attack.

Stress is a primary factor in the cause of insomnia (inability to sleep)

Stress is the primary factor in Bruxism (Grinding of teeth).

Stress is essentially a state of anxiety so the remedy is to eliminate the cause that triggers the anxiety. Altering one's state of mind is the safest and most effective way to deal with chronic, acute stress.

Cost of Stress, Smoking and Excess Weight

Chronic Stress costs industry over $200 billion annually (International Survey Research Corporation).

Smoking costs Americans $157 billion annually (American Cancer Society).

Obesity costs $122.9 billion annually and rising (Obesity in America.org).

Health insurance: For the first time, medical benefits are the most expensive benefit paid by employers and have continued to increase dramatically since 1998 (Employment Policy Foundation).

Effective Ways To Combat Stress

Professional behavior modification techniques are one of the most effective and safest methods of providing relief from chronic stress. They are safer than drugs or alcohol.

The optimum way to relieve stress is in a private or group session. By combining the latest clinical behavioral modification techniques such as positive imaging, various cognitive therapies and motivational psychology, The FREND Group has accumulated an impressive success record. To enhance continued success and help eliminate potential relapse, clinical reinforcement audio programs can be utilized.

Numerous major corporations, law enforcement, health professionals and government agencies, such as city, county and state agencies, AT&T, General Dynamics, B.F. Goodrich, Holiday Inn, the California Highway Patrol Association and the California Nurses Association, have taken advantage of this effective program. To conduct this lifesaving program FREND dedicates their income to help those in need receive free treatment and education.

Since 1994, this program has been a gift of life to organizations that want to help their employees and families lead a healthier more productive life.

Organizations also benefit from reduced health care costs.

Helping people Mentally and Physically

FREND is a special humanitarian organization that has been working hard to help people improve the quality of their live and reach their true potential. It has been in existence since 1994 and is the brain child of Dr. and Mrs. Frank Ricci III.

Frank Ricci has lost family members and friends to smoking, obesity and stress, including his beloved Father. As a result, Frank and Gwendolyn decided to establish a humanitarian clinic that would help those in need by treating, motivating and educating them on how to take charge of their health.

Frank is also a Cancer survivor who contracted Cancer from second-hand smoke and has dedicated his life to helping people in need.

He has helped countless thousands of people by showing them how to achieve their goals, aspirations and dreams by learning the science of the mind and how to tune their physical bodies for health.

Dr. and Mrs. Frank Ricci have enjoyed the fruits of their hard work and humanitarian efforts and enjoy giving something back to people in need.

Their only goal is to teach, treat and assist those in need, lead a healthy prosperous life.

Benefits

To help people in need and help organizations curb their staggering health care costs, FREND provides free education on behavior modification and self-improvement to all employees and their families.

This effective training/clinic is the result of advanced research in behavior modification at UCLA, John Hopkins, Harvard, Mayo Clinic, Stanford and HMI and is recognized by the American Medical Association and American Psychological Association.

Once we help reduce chronic stress (The Cause), stress-related issues (The Effect) such as smoking, excess weight, pain, insomnia, alcohol and drug abuse can be dealt with more successfully.

In addition, participants evaluate the program and their progress afterward, and upon request employers will receive a free “Statistical Summary Report”.

Bottom Line - Results
