STOP SMOKING & CHEWING TOBACCO
FREND treats thousands of people annually to eliminate the use of tobacco. The following is our philosophy founded on scientific facts regarding smoking cessation and tobacco chewing.
FREND'S
Philosophy:
- The use of the word disorder or unhealthy substance can be applied to both chewing and smoking tobacco. Therefore, while the client is in the hypnotic state they can apply these word(s) to both types of tobacco use.
- FREND's therapist also uses the art of Neuro Linguistic Programming, a relatively new science utilized by most leading Behavioral Therapists worldwide.
- The subconscious mind is programmed by society to know that the use of tobacco (smoking or chewing) is not healthy and wrong, therefore, it accepts the fact that use of tobacco is an unhealthy disorder. While the client is in a hypnotic state, the therapist programs the client's subconscious mind to automatically link anything the client does which perpetuates this disorder to the client's past emotional feelings of sadness. For instance, a client may have experienced sadness as a child when his puppy dog ran away from home. The act of perpetuating the client's disorder causes the client to feel as sad as he was when he was a child, and his puppy dog ran away from home. The result of this method causes the client to change his behavior. The act of smoking a cigarette or chewing tobacco no longer is a pleasure for the client. It creates a mild state of sadness which can only be corrected when the client chooses to stop the unhealthy behavior which precipitates his disorder. On the other hand, with the use of hypnotic regression and Neuro Linguistic programming, the client can also be regressed to happy times. The emotional state of happiness is then linked to the client's act of refusing to smoke or chew tobacco. The result is simply that every time the person chooses not to use tobacco; he is filled with feelings of happiness. The person now receives pleasure by doing what is necessary to eliminate his disorder. This aversion and reward method has proven to be extremely effective on hundreds of thousands of clients treated by FREND.
- Use of the word disorder or unhealthy substance is used to the person's advantage. Many smokers, especially female smokers, are concerned about gaining weight due to smoking cessation. Using the words disorder or unhealthy substance in hypnotherapy takes into consideration overeating and eating the wrong kind of food which can promote weight gain. The person who wants to stop smoking without concern of gaining weight is better off with the type of hypnotherapy FREND provides. FREND's hypnotherapy addresses not only use tobacco use it also addresses other existing disorders
- The average tobacco smoker smokes 20 cigarettes per day. Twenty-cigarettes per day times 365 days in a year equals 7,300 cigarettes smoked! In ten years, the tobacco smoker will have smoked 73,000 cigarettes and inhaled over one-half million times! This repetition has established a deeply ingrained subconscious habit which is difficult to break. It takes a minimum of twenty-one hypnotic induction's to help a subject maintain a new pattern of change to break the old habit. Approximately 25% of all tobacco smokers are tied to the habit of smoking by use of their hands in the process of smoking. An experiment at Texas University proved that when smokers were placed in a completely blacked out room, where sight was impossible, the smoker had no urge to smoke because they could not see what they were doing. They could not fondle, tap and light a cigarette, play with the lighter, hold and feel the cigarette between their fingers, and see the smoke existing their nose and mouth. Smokers who underwent tobacco smoking cessation that were given something to do with their hands as a substitute for fondling a cigarette and lighter had a much higher success rate.
- The tobacco user is addicted to the nicotine and certain chemicals in tobacco. This type of addition takes the brain, body cells and liver a minimum of 96 hours to completely reject these chemicals. This rejection or withdrawal process causes unpleasant chemical and physiological side affects. Withdrawal from addiction only lasts up to 96 hours. After that period withdrawal symptoms are primarily psychological. Most tobacco users are not aware of the fact that if they go 96 hours without use of tobacco they are no longer addcted physically to tobacco.
- Dr. John Kappas, reported that while doing his experimental work with hypnosis at U.C.L.A., approximately 83% of the hypnotizable population will dream out the hypnotic programming installed by a hypnotherapist within three to seven days. The majority of hypnotizable subjects will have no continuing subconscious programming to help them achieve permanent success. That is why many people who are hypnotized once to stop smoking, stop for three to seven days, then return to smoking. To prevent this, a subject must undergo a daily hypnotic induction for twenty-one days in a row to prevent the subconscious mind from venting out the hypnotic programming through the dreaming.
